I have fought my weight my entire life and have medical conditions – diabetes and high blood pressure to show it! I have lost weight on and off through the years and really wasn’t thinking I wanted to do it at this point in my life. In fact, I had pretty much decided that I would just live my life with my health problems and my weight because I had tried so many times. In July, 2018 my daughter pushed me to join the gym. I figured, why not, I probably needed to at least try something. After the first night at the gym I came home and Karen had posted on Facebook that she wanted to start a small group of women “age 50 and older who wanted to lose weight”. I read that and immediately decided that God was telling me something! That was 13 months and 35 pounds ago! Karen is wonderful, patient and understanding as a trainer. She knows that when you are “50 and older” knees and joints hurt and always accommodates this while still making us push ahead towards our goals. In addition to physical training, Karen is a certified nutrition coach, teaching us how to eat in the real world by adapting your diet to lean proteins and healthy carbs and fats. Karen and our Monday Night Maniacs have become a life-line for me! In addition to losing the weight, I have been able to cut back on my medications and hope to continue this process. I am not to my goal yet, but I have never in my life been more confident that not only will I get there, but I will keep the weight off because of Karen’s guidance and teaching!
